Seeking God consistently through prayer, indicates that we are not to treat God as if He is a genie in a bottle.  He is not a, “Hey God!  I am in this situation.  If you help me out, I promise I’ll do blahblahblah.” Or maybe you have prayed to Him because you didn’t know what else to do (after trying everything else).  Perhaps you were caught in a jam, going through a rough time, someone was gravely ill, or just even at a crossroads with making life decisions.

By no means am I saying do not talk to God during those times.  You should!  What I am saying is that consistency is the key in order to see victory in your life.  We should not just reach out to God when we’re in a “jam,” or after “we have tried everything else.”  If we are serious about this journey, we must be committed to Him through His Son and by leading of His Holy Spirit.  It is a collaborative relationship that we grow in as God being our first priority!  The bible says,

-But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right– the attitude and character of God], and all these things* will be given to you also. (Matthew 6:33, AMP)
*the necessary supports of life (see Matthew 6 Commentary)

-May all those who seek You [as life’s first priority] rejoice and be glad in You; May those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”   (Psalm 70:4, AMP)

-We love, because He first loved us.  (I John 4:19, AMP)
Remember Jesus died on the cross for you first!  That is how much He loves you!

How do we go about doing our part?  We do it by seeking Him in prayer.  Remember, prayer is communication with God.  Keep in mind that in communicating with Him, there will be many times in which we are to “be still.”  The phrase “be still” (in this context) means to listen and remain calm.  Do not do all the talking.  Your first responsibility is to listen.   So when you pray…

Matthew 6:6→ But when you pray, go into your most private room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you (AMP) *This is speaking to praying by yourself or personal prayer.  Undisturbed; No distractions

Matthew 6:9-13
Pray, then, in this way:

Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.  Your kingdom come, Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and resentment].  And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]  (AMP)

This serves as a model of praying provided by Jesus:
-a new direction for prayer
-a pledge of the gathering of those in the body of Christ* (*those in relationship with Him)
-praying for and with others since we are in fellowship with one another
can be viewed as a letter sent from earth to heaven
*see Matthew 6 Commentary vs. 9-15*

Psalm 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice. (AMP)

demonstrating consistency (evening, morning, and noon I will complain and murmur), yet still confident (He will hear my voice)]      *this reminds me of an ongoing conversation that I have with Him everyday…involved with complaining and murmuring; even though I am making that decision to complain and murmur, HE STILL HEARS ME!

 Psalm 62:8
Trust [confidently] in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us. Selah. (AMP)

–trust and humility and transparency  (I am to put my trust in Him confidently at all times, while pouring my heart out before Him. HE IS MY REFUGE!)

In this way, remain steadfast and consistent in your prayer life! Keep those communication lines open between you and the Lord. He wants to hear from you and He has so much to share with you!  He loves you!

Until next time,

Kia
