What is faith?

What is faith?
Audio: Faith is… by K. London

You might ask, “What is faith? Do I have it? How do I know I have it? Why do I
need it? Is it really necessary to have?” Here are a few definitions that I have included from Merriam Webster:

-an allegiance to a duty or a person: loyalty; fidelity to one’s promises;
– sincerity of intentions
-belief and trust in and loyalty to God; belief in the traditional doctrines of religion;
-firm belief in something for which there is no proof
-complete trust
-something that is believed especially with strong conviction
(Merriam Webster, https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/faith)

For example, you trust that when you make a deposit into your bank accounts, that the bank will not only grow it with interest, but that they will keep your accounts secure.  For those of us that have kids, and a nanny or babysitter comes to your home or you drop them off at a daycare, you are believing that your kids will be kept safe by the staff and/or person that is caring for them while you are away.  Every time you use any vehicle of transportation, you are believing that it will not break or falter so that you are able to arrive safely to the next destination. If you align yourself with any of those definitions and/or examples, then you do have faith.  Now, you might be asking, “What kind of faith is Kia talking about?”

I am talking about having faith that situations will turn around completely in the midst of a current unhealthy situation that you might be in, in which you cannot possibly see your way out of. This type of faith also applies to when you are going through a hard time (whatever that circumstance is), you make a choice to believe that God is and will carry you through, and that He will use that situation to strengthen your trust in Him.  Here is what the bible says about this faith:

-But without faith it is impossible to (walk with God and) please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him  -Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified Version)

-Now faith is the assurance (title, deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality– faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]   -Hebrews 11:1 (Amplified Version)

-Jesus replied to them, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have
faith [personal trust and confidence in Me] and do not doubt or allow yourself to be drawn in two directions, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen [if God wills it].” -Matthew 21:21  (Amplified Version)

-And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.
Romans 8:28 (Amplified Version)

-He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”   Matthew 17:20 (Amplified Version)

So in conclusion, I ask again, do you have faith?  If you have faith the size of a mustard seed (which is about 1-2 millimeters), God can and will do amazing things through you!  Wherever you are at in your journey,  I encourage you to join us! It is never too late to begin or continue, and together we will grow in our understanding of the importance of living in God’s Faith!

In conclusion, you do have faith! Throughout this journey, you will learn, experience, and transform your faith in God. I hope you enjoyed this description of what faith is and how you are already using it on a daily basis. If you did, please feel free to share!

Blessings,
Kia

    1. Hi! Thank you so much for reading! As far as what happened, are you referring to the outcomes of after Jesus spoke what He said?
