God is faithful!  He has never failed me and will never fail you!  The issue is
us, being impatient, wanting to move on to the next task and/or wanting Him to hurry up and answer our prayers.  Unfortunately, we live in a very fast paced society where being patient is a rarity.  So as we learn how to journey with God through faith, our soul (mind, will, and emotions) is already accustomed to being impatient.  In other words, we want what we want, when we want it.

Faith requires patience.  As we pray and make our requests known to Him, God will either answer our prayers with a “yes,” a “no” or “I have something better,”  or “wait.”  There was a time in my life where I was unstable with my relationship with God, well really non-existent.  Maybe you have gone through this or you might be currently experiencing this now.  I treated Him like a genie in a bottle.

Simply put, I would approach Him with the following, Hey God!  I really want this, so please make this happen.  I love you.  But, when it didn’t happen, I would spiral out of control because I was so hung up on my own agenda ahead of His.  I would throw temper tantrums, was an emotional wreck and would go weeks without praying.  I was so arrogant in my thought process that I thought I knew what was best.

I did not fully trust God and was not demonstrating patience at all.  I finally
came to a point in my life where I just stopped and hit rock bottom. I was tired of getting mad and upset when God did not do what I wanted Him to. I began
holding grudges against God, as if my silent treatment towards Him was going to change His mind and plan.  It was physically and mentally exhausting. I clearly was spinning my wheels, which hindered my progress, and it brought no peace.  So what did I do?

 1. I acknowledged that I was struggling with trusting Him in His timing and
patience.
2.  I repented* for acting like I knew better, as well as for my atrocious
behavior.   *there was an inward turn of my heart to get serious about the matter
3. I cried out and asked the Lord to help me trust Him in His timing.
I wanted the power of God to break the cycle so that I could trust Him from a
place of peace and joy.
4. Finally, I searched and looked for every scripture pertaining to patience and His faithfulness.  Here are a few scriptures that I meditated on a consistent basis:

-Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time  I Peter 5:6, AMP

-There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven Ecclesiastes 1:1

-Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart, And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.  In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].  Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord [with reverent awe and obedience] and turn [entirely] away from evil.
Proverbs 3:5-7

The break in the cycle did not happen overnight!  I had to consistently read and pray these scriptures on a daily basis, and I still do especially when I am facing a different level of a challenge in my life.  Remember, it is a process. We must make a commitment to walk it out if we want to grow in our faith, and see the victory in areas that we struggle with in our lives!

I hope this blessed and encouraged you!  Don’t forget! God is faithful! Continue to surrender to Him and His timing.  He will never let you down!

Blessings,

Kia
