Third Essential Step to Journeying by Faith: Making a Personal Commitment by Kia D. London

The desire to know Him, leading you to make a personal commitment, will get stronger and stronger as you become more open, and sensitive to what He says about you and plans for your life, as you set aside your personal quiet time.  There will be peace and clarity that will come during the times of stillness, as well as throughout the days of the week.  This is God’s presence.  Him showing you who He is.

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace.  In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]   (John 16:33, AMP)

Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] ( John 14:27)

Don’t be surprised if there is a conflict between your mind and heart, of what you feel fear about or what might not logically make sense to you versus the direction God is pulling you towards.  You do not need to “be ready, cleaned up or have it together” for making a personal decision to journey with Christ as your personal savior.  That is a lie. Remember! God wants us in our authentic
state to come as we are.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation].” (Matthew 11:28)

God will always meet us where we are at currently in our lives.   If you have been battling thoughts  such as, “What are my friends going to think?  What are my parents going to think?  What will my community think?  Will my life change? Am I ready for my life to change?”  Submit those thoughts to Him!  Remember, He already knows how you are feeling.  He understands. This is your choice of whether or not you choose to continue your journey of faith with Christ. He will never impose Himself on you. Remember He already loves you and truly wants the best for you.

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgement of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him.” (John 3:16-17)

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you, ‘says the Lord, ‘ plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

So you  might be thinking, once I make this decision, what does this mean?  What happens? Take a look at the list below:

Receiving Christ means eternity is spent in heaven
And the testimony is this: God has given us eternal life [we already possess it], and this life is in His Son [resulting in our spiritual completeness, and eternal companionship with Him].  He who has the Son [by accepting Him as Lord and Savior] has the life [that is eternal]; he who does not have the Son of God [by personal faith] does not have the life. (I John 5:11-13)

You are cleansed from all sin (past, present, and future)
This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [Jew or Gentile] who believe [and trust in Him and acknowledge Him as God’s Son].  There is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are being justified [declared free of the guilt of sin, made acceptable to God, and granted eternal life] as a gift by His [precious, undeserved] grace, through the redemption [the payment for our sin] which is [provided] in Christ Jesus, whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith.   This was to demonstrate His righteousness [which demands punishment for sin], because in His forbearance [His deliberate restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus’ crucifixion]. It was to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the One who justifies those who have faith in Jesus [and rely confidently on Him as Savior]. (Romans 3:22-26)

You are made into a new creature in Christ
Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away.  Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. But all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ [making us acceptable to Him] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [so that by our example we might bring others to Him]
 (2 Corinthians 5:17-18)

You will experience His spirit living on the inside of you
Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.  I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My ordinances and do them.
(Ezekiel 36:26-27)
Jesus answered him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above– spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the kingdom of God.”
(John 3:3)

You are admitting that He knows what is best for you, as you no longer are in control
Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6)

From personal experience, your life will change for the better in every aspect!  You will grow and change from the inside out.

Now, if you are at the point in your journey where you are ready to make that personal commitment with Christ, I have enclosed a prayer here for you to pray.

If you are at a point where you know you need to rededicate your life to Christ, meaning before you were following Him and then you decided to go do your own thing (we’ve all experienced this at some point or another), I have enclosed a prayer here for you to pray.

If you’re still not ready to make a full commitment to Christ, no pressure! Continue to journey with us!

I hope this blessed you all! Stay encouraged and keep moving by faith!

Blessings,
Kia
